Metadiscourse Markers: Frequency and Errors Made by EFL Students

To present a skillfully written abstract, an author should apply some strategies. One of them is the application Metadiscourse Markers, which provides readers with linguistic features that will help quickly get gist entire research. Studies have examined metadiscourse markers in abstracts theses and published article journals by Indonesian, but only few used corpus-based approach analyzed errors simultaneously. This study, therefore, aimed at finding frequency Markers grammatical made Accounting Department students Kupang State Polytechnic their final papers’ abstracts. A was applied using AntConc Version 3.5.9 concordance tool. The study showed interactive occurred more frequently than interactional resources. Moreover, were related to applying punctuation (comma), plural forms, verb tenses, modality. suggests teaching material includes abstract writing further emphasizes grammar on topics where performed errors.
